yam le yam - Hiking in Israel
Hiking in Israel across the country from Achziv Beach on the Mediterranean Sea to Chof Kinneret on the Sea of Galilee. The Yam l'Yam hike is one of the most beautiful treks in Israel.
It crosses the whole width of the country, starting in the western Galil, climbing through Nachal K'ziv to the peak of Mt. Meron, the second highest mountain in Israel.
As you walk around the summit, you have a 360o view of northern Israel, Lebanon and Jordan. The trail then goes down Nachal Amud past Mt. Arbel to Ginnosar and the beach of Yam Kinneret - the Sea of Galilee.
Since 1948 this has been a traditional hike for all the Israeli Youth Movements. It passes through pools and streams, and encompasses the full spectrum of Israeli wildlife, flora and fauna.
It also passes historical and archeological sites. This 70 kilometer (44 mile) hike can be done over the course of three to five days, with the option of camping out or staying in hotels or B&Bs each night. Yam l'Yam belongs on every Jew's bucket list! Back to Hiking in Israel.
